Thursday 7th March is World Book Day and the theme this year is 'Read Your Way' and the focus is about taking away the pressure to read and just enjoying reading in whichever way you choose.
Here at Cardinal Newman Catholic School, we have activities throughout the week to focus on the event. On Monday 4th March, we had a group of students in the library to come along to read from a selection of recommended books and to enjoy a hot chocolate. This has been run alongside the Chaplaincy Team who are launching a 'Readathon' to fundraise for Mary's Meals and CAFOD for Lent.
On World Book Day, classes will read an extract of a story in their lessons across the day and given vouchers for World Book Day.
This event is just one focus on what we already do here at Newman, on top of the other literacy offers throughout the school year.
